Roles and Permissions

Roles enable the grouping of permissions and thus an easy assignment of permissions to users.
Permissions determine the actions that users in your SimpKo instance are authorized to perform.
For example, the agent role can be allowed to handles tickets, forward tickets to third parties, etc.

You can create different roles tailored to your requirements. The system provides three standard roles: System, Admin and Agent.

  • The System role has access to the user and account management. The person who creates an account is assigned the system role. If necessary, the system role can also be assigned to other users.

    Note: The permissions of the system role cannot be edited and the role cannot be deactivated.

  • Apart from the subscription details, the Admin role has full access to all functionalities.
  • The Agent role, intended for the handling of support requests, has only limited access.

The Overview of configured Roles shows under 'Translations' in which system languages the role names were created. You will find explanations of the other information given under the Form fields.

Add, Edit Role

Go to Settings >> User Management >> Roles.

  • Add role: Click on "New Role".
    Edit existing role: Click in the line of the role to be edited or click on the edit icon ().

  • Available Form fields:

    Name: Enter the desired name for the role.
    Description: A description for the role can be added.
    Active: For a role to be assigned to a user, it must be activated.

  • Click on Save and then select the desired permissions for the role from the permissions that appear and save. An overview of the permissions with explanations can be found here.

    The selected permissions only take effect after the user logs in again.

  • In case of two Language Tabs: If both system languages are activated, tabs are available for both languages. The 'Name' and 'Description' of the roles must be entered for both languages.

    Note: System texts such as menu fields and explanations as well as system messages are always displayed in the selected system language only.

List of Users Assigned to a Role

Roles are assigned to a user by the user himself. The users assigned to a role are listed on the detail page of the relevant role. If necessary, you can switch to the details page of the respective user from here.

Delete Role

Go to Settings >> User Management >> Roles.

  • To delete a desired role, click on the delete icon () and then on Yes, Delete to confirm the deletion process.

Note:
It's not possible to delete the system role. When deleting another role, you will asked for the new role to which all existing users should be reassigned.
